Neuroscience Grand Rounds, Department of Neurology, UA College of Medicine Tucson
Presented by Dr. Paul Bendheim, Dr. Cynthia Standley, and Mr. Gary Glazner
In this atypical grand rounds, we look at Santiago Ramón y Cajal’s central importance to our modern understanding of the cytoarchitecture of the brain. Next we review the influence of Ramón y Cajal on Frederico Garcia Lorca, who was a surrealist artist living and learning in the same residence as Cajal in Spain, during the silver age of Spanish culture. Finally, we describe approaches and tools for teaching arts humanities in an integrated and longitudinal manner within a health humanities curriculum, and the importance of visual thinking strategies.
