Celebrating Spring!

In this Music and Medicine session, students celebrated Spring and New Beginnings with the participants from the SunTree Adult Day Center. First year medical students sang and played their instruments while the older adults sang along.

Daniel Oheb played the guitar and sang "Last Leaf" by Ok Go. He has been playing the guitar since the age of 9, and also plays the ukulele and bass. Meher Rakkar played her ukulele and sang "All I Want" by Kodaline, "Cherry Wine" by Hozier, and "Riptide" by Advanced Joy. Naushaba Khan played her guitar and sang "Earth Angel" by The Penguins, and "Sitting on the Dock of the Bay" by Otis Redding. We learned that Robert was a boat builder for 22 years, so this song was apropos. It's so fun to see our seniors singing along! Heidi recalls the violets blooming in the spring of her childhood; and Barbara's wish for spring renewal is to gain strength and be whole again. We look forward to our May session!
