Along with my co-host, Nik Ridley, Resident Artist at Phoenix Center for the Arts Thunderbird Arts Center, we presented an evening workshop to allow participants to pause, process and reflect, and move forward as we are all feeling the burden of our times. Through a series of writing prompts and a little bit of show-and-tell we helped participants identify ways to develop self-compassion and refocus attention on the things that really matter.
Here is a poem that resulted from one of the prompts:
My story feels like nails on a chalkboard.
Resiliency smells like mint.
Mindfulness sounds like a single bell ring.
Balance looks like a red ball.
