Introduction
Where to start? You can start on the first page of your journal, if you prefer to do pages in order, or randomly open your sketchbook and work on 2 pages at the same time.
Steps
1. Cut and collage large shapes of collected papers onto the journal page:
Vertical strips, one on each long edge of the page.
Add 2 large circles
Add an oval shape
2. Choose 3 colors of paint that complement your papers and paint around the collage. Use your foam brush with just a little water to move the paint around; you can also use your fingers. 3. Add small round circles – 2 whole and one cut in half. 4. Use black paint and a small paintbrush to outline shapes. No need to be perfect about this!
5. Choose a 4th color of paint and apply paint through a stencil with a foam brush. If you are using a textured object as a stamp, apply paint and randomly stamp a few times on your page. 6. Outline the stencil/stamped shapes with black sharpie and white gel pen 7. Randomly add detail marks with black sharpie. 8. Choose a word that resonates with you and add to page. 9. Journal a message or quote as appropriate.
Examples
Homework
Choose one of the pages you prepared and produce a permission slip for yourself.
Think of societal and/or self-imposed pressures you feel on a daily basis.
Choose one of these and give yourself permission to let go and just be.
Minimize feelings of defeat and turn defeat into accomplishment.
Examples: permission to take a time-out, permission to play, permission to speak up, permission to be selfish, etc.
