Starting a New Art Journal

Art journaling is the creative process of pulling together color, words and images as a way to express yourself, experiment, play and have fun.

Art journals are really just illustrated diaries on any theme.

An art journal can be a record of your daily thoughts, your daily activities and encounters, a

dream journal, a place where you jot down your goals or to-do lists, or... well, almost any record that you'd like to keep in a book.

They become "art journals" when you add any kind of illustration or embellishment to the pages. Anyone can make an art journal. The only difference is how you use it. You can use it like a diary every day, like a comic book of your life, things that happened to you, or just do sketches of interesting or memorable moments from your day or week.

At UA COM-P, monthly journaling sessions are offered that revolve around a theme.  You are welcome to participate in the themed-activity or come in and use the studio supplies any way you want.

By journaling and reflecting on the entries of others, participants achieve a greater understanding of themselves and of their purpose in medicine while enhancing their appreciation of the patients they meet.
