Tea Time

Introduction

What could be more relaxing than working on an art project and enjoying a hot cup of tea? In

this session, we explore the use of tea bags in art collage in a variety of ways.

Directions

What can you do with a tea bag? First, prepare a tea bag to use in your journal. Steep the tea

bag in hot water for 2-3 minutes. Remove the tea bag and let dry overnight. Tear or cut a small

hole in the tea bag to empty out the dried tealeaves. Then you can:

• Paint it with watercolor

• Use the tea bags as memory keepers (insert a photo or a note and seal wit glue)

• Stamp on tea bags

• Make marks on tea bags with black or white ink

• Put several dried tea bags on a page and use a vellum

• Create a page around a teacup

With wet tea bags:

• Steep a concentrated tea and use the tea as water color on paper (tea staining)

• Put wet tea bags randomly onto your pages and let the page get soaked with tea. Move

• the pages in various directions to make the tea stain drip and create patchy effects.
