Describe your morning – what time do you get up, what do you do first, next and what is for breakfast?
Since working remotely, my mornings start off being woken up by our beautiful fur baby, Tyr, between 0530 and 0600 every morning. As the first one up, I let Tyr outside to do his business and play till he is ready to come back inside, in the mean time I prepare for my day; opening the blinds and curtains in the house to let all our house plants soak up the morning sun, clearing the sink and countertops of anything left over from the night before, and then heating some water to make my morning green tea. After all this, it is about time for me to get to work.
What happens next? What do you do for lunch?
My partner and I are both working remotely from home and almost always have lunch together. We typically decide what to make or order around 1100 so that the food can be prepared in time for lunch at 1200. When lunch time starts, we both leave our office, prepare our lunch and que up the show we are watching until lunch time is over. Tyr typically gets his treats at this time as well.
What do you do for dinner?
Dinner in our house is always dependent on the activities of the day, however leftovers are enjoyed more often than anything else. As you can imagine, when we cook, we cook a lot of food with the idea it will last us the next few meals.
How do you end the day and what time do you go to bed?
The day winds down very slowly as we are very much night owls. Most of the house is off to sleep by midnight however you can always find me up working on a project or catching up on some reading as the beginning hours of the new day quickly creep up behind me.
What art are you doing and when do you do it?
I am known for my digital art; from logos and graphic design to custom portraits and various illustrations. I like to work on my art at all times of the day and night, but I focus heavily on my projects after dinner until bedtime during the week and then in my free time on the weekends. Because I work predominantly on an iPad Pro, I can take my work with me anywhere I go.
What are you reading?
After recommending some titles to my young family members, I was tempted to re-reading books that inspired me throughout my childhood, specifically Warriors Don’t Cry by Melba Pattillo Beals, one of the nine teens to be integrated into Little Rock’s Central High School in 1957.
What are you streaming?
After watching the final season of Star Wars: The Clone Wars and finishing Star Wars Rebels, my partner and I are currently in the midst of a Star Wars movie marathon! Episodes I through Episode IX, including Solo and Rouge One.
How are you feeling?
Being under quarantine and having to work remotely has me feeling very attentive to my surroundings and environment. Like many other people, I have had to quickly adjust my routines and habits, evolving with my position and situation. I am also left feeling very grateful for the continued health and stability of my family and myself.
What’s the first thing you’re going to do when the quarantine ends?
The first thing I would love to do, once given the go ahead, is to go see my sister and my niece in California. I typically travel to them often, but this is the longest I’ve been away. Like so many other people, I miss my family more than ever and would do anything to se them again, but their health and safety comes first!
